Above: The crew start to rig the mount for the hoisting motor.
The scaffold was built up an additional 2.5 metres by Island Scaffolding to ensure that there was enough head room above the height of the wheel.

Above: The main motor is hoisted into position using a scaffold hoist.

Above: The spokes are given the final prep and checks before moving to the site at Laxey.
It is most important that the ends are square and the holes are precise.

Above: The first batch of twenty spokes are moved from the workshop in readiness for collection.
